Our services
At Truffes Québec, we are committed to offering superior-quality plants, produced in nurseries using advanced research techniques. Each plant is inspected and meets the best known cultivation practices for truffle cultivation in Quebec.
- Mycorrhizal plants of Appalachian truffles or native Quebec truffles.
- Controlled plants to ensure a high level of mycorrhization.
- Plants that have demonstrated great production potential in North American soils.
- Plants resistant to the North American climate.
Controlled mycorrhization limits contaminants in the root system that could hinder truffle development. This work increases the recovery rate and stimulates the growth of juvenile plants, particularly in difficult soils.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
Traditional plants can have enormous problems with recovery and growth. On the other hand, mycorrhizal plants with selected strains have better performance in planting.
Controlled mycorrhization allows in particular:
- to increase the recovery rate;
- to reduce the risk of contamination of the root system;
- to stimulate plant growth;
- to ensure a high level of mycorrhization with the selected truffle species.
The thoroughness of this control has allowed our experts to harvest truffles after only 7 years of cultivation in North American soils. By choosing Truffes Québec mycorrhizal plants, you can be sure of generating a better truffle harvest in a few years.
As creating a truffle orchard involves several important steps and requires expertise, Truffes Québec offers tailor-made support based on your needs and aspirations.
Once the application form is submitted , we will schedule:
- A preliminary telephone or virtual appointment (30 minutes)
- A site visit by our expert
- A soil analysis
- A feasibility report before planting
Soil analysis
For each project, a soil analysis (granulometry) is carried out and allows us to check the fertility, organic matter content, pH (degree of acidity) as well as the type of your soil (light, heavy, clayey or sandy).
⚠️ This analysis indicates the presence or absence of elements favorable to truffle development, but does not guarantee its production with certainty. Truffes Québec's advice is limited to truffle cultivation only and in no way replaces the advice of an agronomist.
Costs
The cost of a truffle potential analysis depends on:
- The area of the site
- Geological factors
- Environmental factors
- Travel expenses
We recommend a feasibility analysis for projects with more than 100 trees. Feasibility analysis costs start at $1,000 for site assessment, sampling, soil analysis, and recommendations.
*Prices subject to change without notice.
As each truffle orchard is different, we are committed to supporting you through the various stages of its installation.
Although not mandatory, we strongly recommend hiring the truffle farm installation services and the Truffes Québec support plan for the year your project is launched.
This will give you peace of mind and a better guarantee of recovery! Your installations will be compliant and will have a better chance of success.
COSTS
Prices vary from project to project. Truffle farm installation services include:
- Sales of truffle trees and equipment (stakes, tubes, jute)
- Quality Guarantee*
- Installation of the truffle orchard (trees, equipment, plan, lineage)
- Support and advisory services for the installation, start-up and maintenance of the truffle orchard
- Access to the best up-to-date knowledge in truffle cultivation and priority advisory services
- Tools to maximize truffle productivity (technical sheets and management book)
*According to the conditions listed in the contract, Truffes Québec Inc. guarantees a minimum recovery rate of 85% at 1 year (see conditions and exclusions). In the event of failure exceeding 15%, Truffes Québec Inc. undertakes to replace defective plants free of charge up to the minimum guaranteed rate within the limit of 25% of the total number of plants delivered (excluding delivery and planting costs).
For example:
• 85% recovery rate observed: no replacement of plants
• 70% recovery rate observed: 15% of plants replaced free of charge
• 45% recovery rate observed: 25% of plants replaced free of charge
Under this guarantee, Truffes Québec Inc. undertakes to replace, free of charge, defective plants delivered to the buyer the season following the seller's actual observation of the defectiveness of the plants delivered, depending on the available inventory (delivery, planting and material costs not included, if applicable) and certain conditions.
“Reseeding an existing truffle orchard by applying truffle inoculant is a common practice used in European truffle orchards to increase truffle production.” (E.Taschen, 2022)
Reseeding with truffle spore inoculant:
- Accelerates and promotes the development of the root system and mycorrhizae.
- Stimulates and facilitates the symbiosis between truffle trees and truffles.
- Creates favorable conditions for the growth of mycelium, essential for truffle fruiting.
The truffle spore inoculants designed by Truffes Québec are:
- Enriched with truffle spores selected and controlled in the laboratory, promoting the development and optimal production of truffles.
- Designed according to best European practices by Truffes Québec specialists.
- The only specialized and proven products in the field in Quebec, after more than 15 years of research and development.
We now offer our producers a high-quality truffle inoculant application service,
to ensure uniform and efficient coverage.
⚠️ There is no recommended guidance in the literature regarding the start of truffle production on mature or established trees. The truffle fruiting rate in such situations is low and poorly documented.
