The Mauricie region is emerging as a promising breeding ground for truffle farming in Quebec, particularly for the native Appalachian truffle. Thanks to its sandy, well-drained soil, the region attracts producers and investors. Truffes Québec, in partnership with the Filière mycologique de la Mauricie, plans to establish several truffle farms starting this spring, particularly in Saint-Élie-de-Caxton and Trois-Rivières, with a goal of eight per year. The initiative is also generating interest in mycotourism and truffle-based products such as truffle oil and gin. Led by visionaries like Jérôme Quirion of Arborinov, this long-term project aims to make the Mauricie region a major mycological hub in Quebec.
